Collins Aerospace is seeking an Onsite – Marlborough, MA, Reliability, Maintainability, and Safety (RMS) Engineer. As a Reliability, Maintainability, and Safety (RMS) Engineer, you will work across disciplines at all stages in a product’s lifecycle to guarantee a safe and reliable system from development to disposal. With acute eye and attention to detail ensure requirements compliance and the safety and reliability of personnel, equipment, and environment. This position is eligible for relocation.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineer, Aerospace Engineering, related Science, or (STEM) major.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office software suite
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Human Systems Integration (HIS) with a focus specifically on Human Factors Engineering (HFE)
  • Experience with Radio Frequency (RF) based communication systems
  • Experience with Reliability and Maintainability predictions
  • Familiarity with military standards such as MIL-HDBK-217, MIL-HDBK-338B, MIL-HDBK-470, MIL-STD-1629A and their applications
  • Familiarity with MIL-STD-1472 and the application of MIL-STD-1472 requirements

Responsibilities

  • Supports program lifecycle through the application of reliability, maintainability, and safety techniques
  • Participates in all phases of program life cycle, utilizing reliability and maintainability methodologies as they apply in our systems engineering processes in accordance with military standards such as MIL-HDBK-217, MIL-HDBK-338B, MIL-HDBK-470, MIL-STD-1629A
  • Provides input to the development of Failure Modes Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA), Reliability & Maintainability analysis and predictions, Reliability Critical Items List, and Failure Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action System (FRACAS)
  • Perform hazard analysis on complex systems per MIL-STD-882E
  • Track, propose, and mitigate system hazards at various stages of a program
  • Conduct reviews of safety and human factors concerns both internally and externally
  • Facilitate safe and useable systems through participating in design reviews
  • Participate in specification and Statement of Work (SOW) reviews to identify system safety and human factors requirements
  • Review, monitor, and track hazardous materials (e.g. NAS-411) used throughout systems and any mitigations that may be necessary
  • Support compliance audits that demonstrate how internal processes and procedures are used on programs
