About The Position

This role is part of Karman Space & Defense’s Tactical Missiles and Integrated Defense Systems business, which designs and develops integrated missile and defense systems for missions across air, land, and sea. The Systems Engineer I supports engineering teams developing aerospace structures, mechanisms, and mechanical systems through system planning, documentation, and verification activities. The role helps coordinate technical execution, contributes to system architecture development, and supports analysis and testing to ensure products meet defined requirements.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in systems engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, industrial engineering, physics, or an equivalent field.
Typically 0–2 years of engineering experience.
General engineering knowledge, including design, data analysis, physics-based modeling, dynamics, and kinematics.
U.S. person status under U.S. export control laws, including U.S. citizen or national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Responsibilities

Support program-level technical oversight to ensure products meet applicable requirements.
Contribute to system architecture decisions by modeling system behavior and assisting with requirements decomposition.
Verify and document system compliance with requirements.
Contribute to test plan development to validate system performance.
Support development of engineering reports and presentations.
Support creation of interface control drawings and interface description documents.
