About The Position

We are looking for a Systems Engineer to participate in the system design aspects of our Energy Storage System (ESS), with an emphasis on BMS and charging controls design and battery simulation, spanning the requirements, integration, and V&V of our ESS.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
  • 3+ years of systems, controls, or BMS engineering experience in aerospace or other safety-critical industries (e.g., automotive EV, eVTOL, battery energy storage systems)
  • Knowledge of systems engineering principles, requirements management, verification, and validation
  • Experience with Python for automation, analysis, or modeling
  • Hands-on experience developing BMS or charging control features and algorithms
  • Working knowledge of Li-ion battery fundamentals, chemistries, and degradation mechanisms

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Simulink/Stateflow-based controls development
  • Experience using requirements management tools such as Jama or DOORS
  • Experience with CAN communication and diagnostic tools (CANalyzer, CANoe, Vehicle Spy, PCAN)

Responsibilities

  • Be involved in systems engineering activities to develop, integrate, and qualify our Energy Storage System (ESS)
  • Perform/lead requirements-based verification activities, supporting team members and contractors
  • Prepare the Test Request documents, Verification Test Reports (VTR), and Traceability Matrix
  • Work with internal and external teams, customers, and suppliers throughout our product development cycle to manage requirements plans, system validation, and verification
  • Support the validation, verification, and testing plan execution for DO-178, DO-254, DO-160, and FAA regulatory compliance
  • Manage the requirements change process, identifying customers' priorities and recording conflicts between individual requirements
  • Design, develop, and validate BMS control features including contactor and pre-charge sequencing, cell balancing, and charge/discharge management, together with their fault detection behavior
  • Develop and simulate charging strategies across the ESS operating envelope, including the control interactions between the ESS and ground charging equipment
  • Build, correlate, and maintain system simulation models for operational modes and states behavior
  • Analyze ESS data to characterize system and cell behavior to root cause anomalies
  • Contribute to thermal and coolant-loop analysis for the ESS and support the development of system requirements for charging thermal management

Benefits

  • 100% company-paid premiums for medical, dental, and vision insurance (for employees & dependents)
  • 4 weeks paid vacation + 1-week annual end-of-year shutdown, sick time, and 11 paid holidays
