Systems Engineer Design & Implementation - North Carolina OR South Carolina
About The Position
This is a remote position with travel (25-50%) to support projects in the T4E territory inclusive of the states of NC, SC and GA. The Engineer will be responsible for the public safety design and implementation of solutions for Motorola’s ASTRO 25 and adjacent technologies for State and Local government agencies. We are looking for Engineers who are energized by delivering solutions that truly make a difference. Projects are varied in scope, ranging from a single-site installation for a local municipality, to a complex statewide public safety communications system costing tens or hundreds of millions of dollars. The team comprises Sales, Project Management and System Engineering personnel working together in a high performance culture, often with demanding cycle times and high customer expectations because we are working on mission critical communication systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering or technical discipline and 3+ years of engineering or technical experience OR 5 years of engineering or technical experience
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required.
- Employer work permit sponsorship is not available for this position.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with Motorola ASTRO 25 architecture is a plus.
- Certifications a plus through CompTIA Network+, Juniper JNCIA-Junos, Nokia NRS1, CCNA or similar a plus.
- Works collaboratively and builds relationships with other colleagues, customers, and third party service professionals.
- Self-motivated, good written and oral communication skills, and strong interpersonal skills
Responsibilities
- Design and implementation of the radio network including infrastructure, subscribers, mobile backhaul and WAN and CEN networks.
- High level of customer and consultant interaction involving customer design reviews, customer witnessed staging and acceptance testing events, coverage acceptance testing, live system upgrades, and troubleshooting efforts.
- System buildout, configuration and acceptance testing in both lab staging and field environments
- Radio coverage testing, frequency analysis and interference mitigation
- Radio system licensing (FCC/Industry)
- Preparation of system fleet map, encryption and radio programming templates
- Complete system documentation
- Live system cutovers and upgrades
