About The Position

The Associate Systems Engineer will support VFX infrastructure and technology for the business unit. You will participate in deploying infrastructure and supporting creative and production staff, partnering with your local team on projects and initiatives.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
  • Hands-on experience with Linux and Windows desktops.
  • Keen understanding of systems engineering and a willingness to learn new technologies and IT principles.
  • Experience supporting technology and staff in a creative environment.
  • Strong understanding of Linux and Windows Desktops.
  • Understanding of virtualization technologies.
  • Understanding of automation of IT and Engineering tasks.
  • Understanding of Windows Server technologies such as Active Directory.
  • Understanding of networking principles and protocols.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds for datacenter tasks.
  • Work on site 4 days a week.
  • Participate in after-hours, weekend, and holiday on-call rotations.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in VFX and media & entertainment environments is a huge asset.

Responsibilities

  • Support both Windows and Linux desktop infrastructure.
  • Support other members of the group with duties across all areas of technology.
  • Collaborate with IT, support, and engineering teams to ensure people and infrastructure are able to function.
  • Answer helpdesk support and queries and escalate issues to other team members.
  • Document IT functions and data-center inventory on an on-going basis.
  • Participate in companywide IT projects and initiatives supporting the local engineering team.
  • Assist with datacenter operations including racking, cabling, and hardware lifecycle.
  • Administer and maintain supporting infrastructure: Windows Desktops (Windows 10 and Windows 11), Linux Desktops (Rocky), MacOS Desktop, DNS and DHCP and related operations.
  • On-boarding and off-boarding of staff.
  • Assist other members of team on projects and tasks where appropriate.
