About The Position

This role involves performing cybersecurity assessments of large-scale DOD systems, utilizing an Offensive Cyber Operations (OCO) mindset to perform Defensive Cyber Operations (DCO) activities. The position requires long-term, in-depth vulnerability assessments leveraging systems engineering principles and knowledge, using available information such as architecture diagrams, build specifications, design documentation, and systems architecture. The Systems Engineer will perform independent verification and validation of security requirements and capabilities, and incorporate systems resiliency and security engineering concepts into acquisition documents. Responsibilities also include performing technical evaluations of contractor proposals for systems resiliency, security, and cybersecurity considerations. As a technical leader, the role involves managing Senior Systems Engineers directly, ensuring they are fully utilized, and contributing to building a strong systems engineering team. Interpersonal skills are crucial for fostering customer relationships and gathering necessary insights, information, and documentation to support the mission.

Requirements

  • Cybersecurity assessments of large-scale DOD systems.
  • OCO (Offensive Cyber Operations) and DCO (Defensive Cyber Operations) concepts.
  • Long-term, in-depth vulnerability assessments.
  • Use of architecture diagrams, build specifications, design documentation, and systems architecture.
  • Independent verification and validation of security requirements and capabilities.
  • Incorporation of systems resiliency and security engineering concepts into acquisition documents.
  • Technical evaluation of contractor proposals for systems resiliency, security, and cyber security considerations.
  • Leadership of systems engineering teams.
  • Customer relationship development and information gathering.
  • Minimum 15 years of system engineering experience (BS degree in STEM counts as 4 years; MS in STEM counts as an additional 2 years).
  • 6 years as a system engineer lead with experience leading, managing, and collaborating with a broad range of organizations, groups, and teams.
  • Relevant BS degree in a STEM field.
  • Zero Trust experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Cybersecurity certification (e.g., Sec+, CISSP, CEH).
  • Familiarity with NIST SP 800-160.
  • Familiarity with INCOSE defined life cycle systems engineering processes.
  • Experience with or knowledge of large-scale DOD systems.
