About The Position

Designs and develops next-generation RF and digital satellite communication systems for space-based platforms. Develops and verifies multi-rate, fixed-point signal processing algorithms for digital payloads. Conducts performance analysis of signal processing models to validate system performance. Performs waveform development and characterization for satellite communication systems. Performs trade studies for system design and performance optimization. Supports integration and test of payloads and spacecraft from unit level through in-orbit operations. Supports HDL-level design and verification for FPGA or ASIC implementations. Performs detailed system design and verification activities for space-based communication systems. Applies DSP and digital communications algorithms including equalization, coding, decoding, channel estimation, filter design, and resampling theory. Uses Matlab and Simulink for algorithm development and performance analysis.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Person (as defined by ITAR).
  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
  • 5+ years of experience in core digital communications and signal processing theory.
  • 3+ years of experience with Matlab or Simulink for algorithm development.
  • 3+ years of experience in systems engineering including requirements definition, allocation, verification, architecture design, and trade design.
  • 1+ years of experience working with FPGAs or ASICs.
  • Experience in digital signal processing and digital communications algorithms including equalization, coding, decoding, channel estimation, filter design, and resampling theory.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with lab equipment including oscilloscope, waveform generator, and spectrum analyzer.
  • Experience leading teams of engineers.
  • 9+ years of related work experience or equivalent combination of technical education and experience.
