About The Position

PeopleTec is currently seeking a Systems Effectiveness Engineer / Scientist to support our Huntsville, AL location. We are seeking scientists and engineers who are interested in joining an award-winning company and working with cutting edge technologies to include: kinetic energy, materials science, computational modeling, and air and missile defense. The selected candidate will be a member of our dynamic Huntsville team and will work on projects involving the effectiveness of US weapons systems in a variety of scenarios. Our projects emphasize modeling and simulation product design, development, implementation, and validation. Our team works on state-of-the-art projects, blending engineering skills with software design. Our team members work with a wide-ranging group of customers to develop innovative and creative solutions to address the nation's most pressing challenges. A successful candidate will be a well-rounded scientist or engineer with strong mechanical and mathematical modeling skills, a desire to learn new tools/technology, and a drive to develop solutions to support our customers. Work in an agile development environment that requires initiative, attention to detail, independent thought and action, and the ability to work in a multi-disciplined teaming environment.

Requirements

  • Mechanical design (CAD) experience.
  • Programming experience in C++ and/or Python, with experience operating standard development tools.
  • Previous experience with or domain knowledge of finite element analysis methods and software
  • Previous experience with or domain knowledge of energetic (explosive / combustible) materials and compounds
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Project)
  • Experience developing/integrating engineering tools in an Agile environment
  • Sound oral and written communication skills to clearly present and communicate technical approaches and findings to the team and the government customer
  • Excellent technical writing skills
  • Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment
  • Travel: Less than 5 %
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • An active DoD Secret clearance is required to perform this work. Candidates are required to have an active Secret clearance upon hire, and the ability to maintain this level of clearance during their employment.
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university in related discipline (engineering, physics, computer science, mathematics) and 5 years or more of professional experience.
  • A Master’s Degree will substitute for 2 years of demonstrated experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with or domain knowledge of Sandia National Laboratories CTH code (or similar)

Responsibilities

  • Researching, developing, and modeling heating and combustion effects in enclosed environments.
  • Developing analytical and statistical approaches to physical geometry modeling.
  • Developing and modifying Computer Aided Drawing (CAD) 3-Dimensional (3-D) geometry and mesh models.
  • Using computational modeling methodologies and tools.
  • Supporting the development of fast-running, semi-empirical system effectiveness and lethality models.
