About The Position

Join a fast-paced team within Viasat’s Government Space and Advanced Technologies group as a Mid-Level Systems Design Engineer. In this role, you will support system-level build and analysis for communication and sensing systems. You will contribute to algorithm development for signal processing, control theory, and system optimization, and assist with waveform development and performance evaluation. You will collaborate alongside teams in systems engineering, firmware, software, and integration & test.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field; Master’s preferred.
  • With a Master's degree or comparable experience, have 3-5 years working on system building, modeling, or algorithm development. Or, possess 5-7 years of applying these skills with a Bachelor’s degree or similar background.
  • Proficiency in C++, C, MATLAB, or Python for crafting and running simulations.
  • Knowledge of RF systems, processing and waveform concepts.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Active US Secret; Top Secret Clearance preferred.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10%.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience with digital hardware platforms (processors, memory, FPGAs, CPLDs, microcontrollers, networking interfaces).
  • Familiarity with systems engineering processes, including requirements flow-down, verification, and validation.
  • Experience collaborating with geographically distributed teams, driving integration across hardware, software, and algorithmic domains.
  • Background in modeling and simulation tools, supporting trade studies and performance optimization for sophisticated system architectures.
  • Active clearance at the Top Secret level with SCI or SAP eligibility.
