About The Position

McKee Foods is seeking a Systems & Database Engineer to join our Security Operations & End User Engineering > team. This position is part of a career ladder that includes grades 5-11, indicating potential for advancement. The role involves implementing and monitoring advanced security measures, managing identity services, administering collaboration platforms, managing operating systems, developing automation scripts, designing and managing IT systems, optimizing infrastructure, supporting virtual desktop infrastructure, assisting with cloud services, performing database management and security monitoring, proactively assessing systems for upgrades, acting as a point of contact for technical troubleshooting, and maintaining comprehensive documentation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity or related field
  • Minimum one year related experience
  • Basic understanding of operating systems (Windows primarily; some familiarity with Mac/Linux is a plus)
  • Intro-level knowledge of IT security concepts (password hygiene, MFA, basic vulnerabilities)
  • Familiarity with Active Directory or user account management
  • Understanding of basic networking concepts (IP addresses, VPNs, Wi-Fi vs Ethernet)

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with tools like CrowdStrike, Rapid7, Okta, or Google Workspace
  • Exposure to multiple operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux)
  • Basic understanding of endpoint security or vulnerability scanning tools
  • CompTIA A+, Network+, or Security+ certifications
  • Google Cloud or AWS foundational certifications
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (especially GCP)

Responsibilities

  • Implement and monitor advanced security measures and vulnerability assessments using CrowdStrike and Rapid7.
  • Leverage CIS Benchmarks for system hardening and the CIS Critical Security Controls to prioritize remediation efforts across the enterprise.
  • Manage and secure identity services through Active Directory, GPOs, and Okta to control access and enforce system configurations.
  • Administer and support enterprise collaboration platforms, including Google Workspace and Webex, to ensure seamless business communicate.
  • Manage, patch, and troubleshoot Windows, MacOS, and Linux operating systems to ensure stability and security compliance, while prioritizing operational impact and end-user experience.
  • Develop and deploy automation scripts using Python or PowerShell and leverage AI tools (such as Gemini) to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual tasks.
  • Design, plan, and manage organizational IT systems, server software, and data center systems with increasing levels of autonomy.
  • Manage and optimize enterprise-level infrastructure, specifically focusing on server maintenance and ZTNA principals.
  • Support and maintain virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) and mobile device management using Omnissa Horizon and Omnissa Workspace ONE.
  • Assist in the design and management of scalable cloud services, primarily within GCP environments.
  • Perform basic to advanced management and security monitoring for database systems.
  • Proactively assess current systems for potential upgrades, then plan and implement changes to enhance business impact.
  • Act as a point of contact for fixing complex technical issues and performing routine system monitoring.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, procedures, and licensing/maintenance agreements.
