About The Position

Odyssey is recruiting for a senior System Cybersecurity Engineer to join our elite team at Peterson Space Force Base in Colorado Springs, Colorado. In this role, you will be a hands-on cybersecurity subject matter expert responsible for the full integration of cybersecurity across all phases of the system lifecycle- from acquisition and design through development, testing, fielding, operations, sustainment, and compliance assessment. You will operate at the intersection of system engineering and cybersecurity, ensuring that mission-critical systems remain secure, compliant, and operationally resilient. All work will be performed in alignment with contract requirements and coordinated by the Information System Security Managers (ISSMs).

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Must have and be able to maintain a Top-Secret Security Clearance
  • DoD IAM Level I (CAP, CND, Cloud+, GSLC, Security+ CE, CISSP)
  • High School Diploma
  • 15 years’ directly related experience with proper certifications as described in the functionally aligned job description, 8 of which must be in the DoD; OR,
  • BA/BS degree and 12 years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline being performed, 5 of which must be in the DoD; OR,
  • MA/MS degree and 10 years of experience in the respective technical/ professional discipline being performed, 5 of which must be in the DoD
  • Possesses the advanced knowledge, experience and recognized ability to be considered an expert in their technical/professional field.
  • Possess the ability to perform tasks and oversee the efforts of junior and mid-level personnel.

  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge of their technical/professional discipline as well as possess a comprehensive understanding and ability to apply associated standards, procedures and practices in their area of expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Cybersecurity duties encompass a wide range of responsibilities aimed at protecting digital systems, networks, and sensitive data from threats. These duties include but are not limited to: Risk assessment and vulnerability management: Identifying, evaluating, and prioritizing security vulnerabilities across the organization's digital infrastructure.
  • Security implementation: Implementing and maintaining robust technical defenses to protect critical assets and secure infrastructure.
  • Monitoring and incident response: Continuously monitoring for potential threats and responding quickly to security incidents to minimize damage and restore operations.
  • Training and awareness: Educating employees and customers on cyber risks and promoting security through training and awareness programs. To include taking the required Government Training required by the DET 5 and other specific training on the DET 5s my Learning page.
  • Audits and compliance: Ensuring compliance with cybersecurity requirements and regulations like Annual Control Validations, Cyber risk assessments
  • Third-party risk management: Managing the security of vendors and partners to prevent potential security vulnerabilities.
  • Maintain compliance with DoD Manual 8140.03 / 8570.01-M baseline certification requirements for Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level III or Information Assurance Management (IAM) Level II/III (e.g., CISSP, CASP+, CISM).
  • Register, review, and maintain system Ports, Protocols, and Services Management (PPSM) data. Ensure all boundary defenses (firewalls, routers) are configured in accordance with DISA PPSM Category Assurance List (CAL) requirements.
  • Identify and implement process improvements within the Agile Kanban construct to streamline the RMF lifecycle. Actively seek to reduce bottlenecks in artifact collection and eMASS package processing, ensuring a smooth and predictable workflow for the cybersecurity team and mission stakeholders.
  • Evaluate Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) at the Engineering Review Board (ERB) level.
  • Conduct early-stage Security Impact Analysis (SIA) to identify RMF control implications and ensure technical requirements for NCMC-ITW/AA and Legacy Space systems are met before development begins.
