About The Position

The Systems Architecture Engineer will provide on-site architectural support to the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command (USINDOPACOM). The Systems Architecture Engineer will provide on-site architectural support to ETA planning and development, working under the direction of the Architecture Lead. Furthermore, the Systems Architecture Engineer will facilitate daily design, development, and evaluation of Network Theater Architectures and provide on-site support.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience supporting the DoW, including military operations
  • 5+ years of experience in systems integration or network infrastructure for a complex DoW network
  • Experience in developing network design layouts and presentations using network diagram tools
  • Experience in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with multi-vendor firewalls, switches, routers, and cloud networking design for both hybrid and cloud native deployments
  • Knowledge of network technologies such as Software Defined Networking (SDN), Software Defined Wide Area Networks (SD-WAN), routing, switching, firewalls, wireless, application load balancing, and network visibility
  • Knowledge of the USINDOPACOM AOR
  • Knowledge of the TCP IP protocol suite, IP subnets, masking, routing protocols, network bandwidth, requirements, routing through network devices, public network extensions, and network practices and protocols such as communications, management, and security protocols
  • TS/SCI clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering

  • 8+ years of experience supporting the DoW/DoD
  • 8+ years of experience designing, deploying, troubleshooting, and securing network infrastructure and data for large and complex networks in DoW environments
  • 5+ years of experience in military operations
  • 5+ years of experience working in the USINDOPACOM AOR
  • 5+ years of experience with DoW weapons systems or joint fires
  • Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Certification
  • DoD Approved 8570 Baseline IAT Level II Certification

Responsibilities

  • Support the development of architectural artifacts, including diagrams, models, and specifications.
  • Assist in the evaluation of the feasibility and performance of different architectural options.
  • Provide technical support to the team on architectural matters.
  • Ensure that the architectures are aligned with Department of War (DoW) and USINDOPACOM standards.
  • Collaborate with other engineers and stakeholders to develop integrated solutions.
  • Provide on-site support and troubleshooting during experimentation events.
  • Conceptualize operational needs and solutions at a high level and then develop technical requirements and recommend solutions to drive improvement to existing design and solutions.
  • Oversee the strategic interface for system of systems configuration, network configuration, strategically plan new configurations for network operations using knowledge of the characteristics of the systems being added to the network, and the specifications for network interfaces to ensure effective integration and optimal network performance.
  • Research, design, test, and evaluate new technologies and solutions.
  • Maintain an organization-wide view of current and future operations and architecture to recommend solutions that integrate into the overall architectural vision and strategy.
  • Design and implement computer and information networks, such as local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), intranets, extranets, and other data communications networks such as Software Defined Networks (SDN).
  • Participate in or lead design and engineering projects for ETA experimentation involving the extension and application of advanced engineering and networking principles and concepts.
  • Perform network planning, modeling, and analysis.
  • Design network and computer security measures, and research and recommend network and data communications hardware and software.
  • Provide assessments regarding the technical characteristics of the proposals and alternatives considered to optimize network performance and data throughput in support of operational users.
  • Conduct advanced and state-of-the-art assignments such as network design optimization, technical experiments, specification of equipment configurations, technology assessment, technology insertion planning, capacity planning, and configuration management.
