About The Position

Seeking a Systems Architect to provide strategic advice, technical guidance, and expertise for the Air Force Distributed Common Ground System (AF DCGS). This critical role will drive future technology transitions into the cloud while managing complex on-premises infrastructure, including the hosted virtual environments, workstations, and Cross Domain Solutions (CDS). The ideal candidate will provide architectural governance, ensuring open, responsive, and Agile engineering solutions that seamlessly align with system modernization efforts and directly support mission-critical workflows.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI security clearance.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 7+ years of related experience in systems architecture, engineering, and enterprise IT infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated expertise with AF DCGS architecture, cloud transitions, and on-premises infrastructure.
  • Strong understanding of Agile engineering methodologies and open architecture principles.
  • Proven experience conducting trade-off studies and utilizing Configuration Management (CM) processes for hardware baselines.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide strategic technical guidance to leadership, analysts, and project staff.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in a relevant technical field.
  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, CISSP, INCOSE CSEP, or CompTIA Security+).
  • Hands-on experience implementing automated engineering tools (e.g., CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code).
  • Prior military or contractor experience directly supporting Air Force ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance) enterprise networks.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic advice, technical guidance, and expertise to program and project staff regarding AF DCGS architecture and future transformational efforts.
  • Manage and oversee on-premises infrastructure, including the hosted virtual environment, workstations, and Cross Domain Solutions.
  • Lead architectural governance, ensuring open architectural solutions that facilitate a highly responsive and Agile engineering approach.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with analysts and sustainment teams to directly support the validation of operation workflows, demonstration threads, and CONOPS for the software and hardware baseline.
  • Provide plans and conduct comprehensive design reviews for maintenance releases, modifications, fixes, end-of-life replacements, hardware refreshes, and cyber patching.
  • Assist with the enterprise transition to automated tools and modern engineering practices.
  • Review design documentation associated with ongoing system sustainment and upgrades.
  • Conduct detailed trade-off studies to identify the most advantageous technical approaches to resolve specific engineering change issues.
  • Follow strict Configuration Management (CM) processes and conduct thorough technical reviews of Software Change Requests (SCRs).
