Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history. Northrop Grumman’s Space Systems Sector is seeking a Systems Architect Engineer – Level 4 to join our team in Redondo Beach, CA. Please be aware that this position is contingent upon obtaining and maintaining associated business and/or customer funding. Additionally, this position is contingent upon the candidate obtaining final clearances and program access(es) within a reasonable period of time as determined by the company. Continued employment thereafter will be subject to maintenance of the level of clearance and program access required for the position in the future. This role is for a highly motivated System Architect who will operate within a study, capture, or program execution effort and focus on driving consistency and alignment across technical thread capabilities to define a complete architecture solution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline with 8+ years of engineering experience OR Master's degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline with 6+ years of engineering experience OR PhD in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline with 4+ years of engineering experience
  • Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen and have active SCI access at time of application with a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) completed within the last 5 years and prior to start date OR Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen and have an active U.S. Government Top Secret security clearance (or equivalent) at time of application with a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) completed within the last 5 years and prior to start date as well as the ability to obtain and maintain active SCI access within a reasonable period of time as determined by the company. Continued employment thereafter will be subject to the candidate’s maintenance of the level of clearance and program access required for the position in the future.

Responsibilities

  • Work with systems engineering stakeholders across capability threads and operations to develop and refine advanced system architectures and operational concepts that align with mission objectives.
  • Develop and maintain architecture artifacts (Technical Description Document, CONOPS/OPSCON) that contain a detailed, comprehensive overview of the entire system design and operations.
  • Support mission planning and execution by ensuring all documentation reflects current system status and operational intent.
  • Support trade studies to evaluate design decisions and defining the resulting architecture
  • Leveraging MBSE tools, methodologies, and workflows to develop, maintain, and validate system models as the technical baseline for the effort.
  • Support the Systems Engineering team to define and document the system design, requirements, interfaces, and mission/operational concept within the MBSE tool suite.
