About The Position

We're growing and looking for a Systems and Controls Engineer to join our team in Idaho Falls, ID! As our Systems and Controls Engineer you will be responsible for plans, designs, and you will develop, configure, test network architecture for power plant and research reactor process monitoring and control systems.

Requirements

  • 2+ Years of relevant experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related degree.
  • Technical documentation skills.
  • PLC and DCS programming and design experience with a wide mix of control system and SCADA equipment.
  • Experience interfacing with field devices including thermocouples, RTD's, current loops, voltage and discrete IO.
  • Equipment layout or panel design experience for end user facilities.
  • Experience with analog and digital electronic circuits.
  • Experience with networks including VLAN planning, network switch configuration and basic routing.
  • Experience with CAD software such as Microsoft Visio, AutoCAD, etc.
  • Knowledge of Windows operating systems with experience in system management and real-time application development.
  • Familiarity with performing formal testing/integration, including software unit testing and integration of software with hardware as well as creating and executing system test procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, review, test, troubleshoot and refine system hardware and software requirements with internal and external customers under some supervision.
  • Perform requirements capture and specification; feasibility, concept proving and prototyping, and design, develop, test, debug, configure, maintain and document systems with minimal supervision.
  • Find, evaluate and select equipment suppliers and write purchase requisitions.
  • Coordinate with customers and team members to ensure that the system design meets requirements.
  • Create and/or review design documentation for systems under some supervision.
  • Create and/or review formal test documentation for systems for PLCs, system health and redundancy, and system data acquisition under some supervision.
  • Integrate 3rd party hardware and software and company developed software into respective systems under some supervision.
  • Support deployed systems by analyzing and fixing system related issues under some supervision.
  • Follow established guidelines and procedures to ensure technical standards are met according to company standards.
  • Learn and apply new concepts to develop and demonstrate technical competence.
  • Demonstrate a strong customer focus by listening to, recognizing, and responding to customer input in an effective, timely and courteous manner.
  • Take initiative as problems and opportunities arise by anticipating and meeting customer needs and company expectations.
  • Participate in process improvement.
