About The Position

This role is for someone looking to build or advance their career in automation, control systems, and industrial product development. The successful Systems and Automation Engineer will be highly motivated, technically curious, hands-on, and comfortable learning across multiple disciplines, including PLC programming, HMI/SCADA development, instrumentation, electrical systems, process equipment, and software integration. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving real-world technical problems, working close to hardware, and understanding how complete systems operate. The position supports the development, build, testing, installation, and continuous improvement of advanced industrial analyzer systems used in process and manufacturing environments. The ideal candidate does not need to already be an expert in automation engineering, but should have strong technical fundamentals, an inclination for programming, and demonstrated experience through coursework, internships, work experience, research, or personal projects. We are looking for someone who can grow into a full contributor on a multidisciplinary engineering team.

Requirements

  • B.S. in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, chemical engineering, mechatronics, systems engineering, or a related technical discipline; or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Programming or scripting experience using Python, Java, structured text, C#, JavaScript, or a similar language.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, especially with systems that combine hardware, software, instrumentation, and process equipment.
  • Hands-on technical aptitude and willingness to work directly with equipment during build, test, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and capable of independently learning new tools, technologies, and concepts.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with engineers, technicians, manufacturing personnel, software developers, and project stakeholders.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 20–25% for customer installations, commissioning, startup support, training, and related field activities.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with HMI/SCADA platforms, especially Inductive Automation Ignition.
  • Experience programming PLCs, especially Rockwell / Allen-Bradley systems.
  • Familiarity with industrial automation hardware, instrumentation, control panels, I/O systems, sensors, actuators, pumps, valves, or heaters.
  • Experience with databases, industrial communication protocols, data acquisition, or process control concepts.
  • Experience with electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, I/O lists, manufacturing support, commissioning, or field service.

Responsibilities

  • Work with automation, controls, software, manufacturing, and process engineers to design, build, test, and improve industrial analyzer systems.
  • Develop and support PLC-based control systems for pumps, valves, heaters, sensors, instruments, and other electromechanical equipment.
  • Create and maintain HMI/SCADA applications used to operate analyzer systems, visualize real-time data, monitor system health, and interact with proprietary analysis software.
  • Integrate instrumentation, analyzers, industrial communication devices, control hardware, and software systems into complete working products.
  • Support manufacturing builds, factory acceptance testing, customer installations, commissioning, and startup activities.
  • Assist with electrical and controls-related design tasks, including I/O mapping, device selection, wiring documentation, system checkout, and troubleshooting.
  • Help improve engineering standards, documentation, test methods, troubleshooting procedures, and internal tools.

Benefits

  • great career opportunities to grow yourself in a truly global culture where respect, value creation, collaboration, integrity, and gratitude are highly valued and exhibited in everything we do.
