The Systems Analyst evaluates assigned network and systems for performance, security, and other issues. They analyze data processing requirements to effectively plan a data processing system that will provide the system capabilities necessary for projected workloads. This role collaborates with data processing and project managers to determine limitations and capabilities of the existing system, and the capabilities required for future data processing projects and projected workload. The Systems Analyst determines optimal hardware configurations by evaluating a variety of factors such as the number of departments serviced by data processing equipment, volume of transactions, and need for security and access restrictions. They also determine, suggest, and plan layout for computers and peripheral equipment, including necessary changes to existing equipment and systems required to ensure efficient operation and effective use of allotted space. Additionally, the Systems Analyst determines power supply requirements and configurations, assists users with software, hardware, connectivity, and related issues, and provides training on new or modified equipment. They ensure the system operates in line with specifications by monitoring equipment functions and performs other related duties as assigned.
