About The Position

Under limited supervision of the SEACOM Director, this position monitors, analyzes, defines, and configures system resources, operating systems, application administration, and communication networks. The role involves coordinating software installation/updates, customer problem resolution, and performing related duties as assigned. This position is crucial for maintaining mission-critical systems serving the Southeastern Arizona Communications Center (SEACOM) and public safety personnel.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or Computer Information Systems from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning recognized by the US Department of Education and two (2) years of enterprise software/hardware installation, configuration, and support experience; OR six (6) years of enterprise software/hardware installation, configuration, and support experience.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona driver’s license.
  • Ability to be covered by county insurance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting public safety or emergency communications technology environments, including Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), Records Management Systems (RMS), emergency communication systems, Motorola Spillman Flex, ProQA, NG911 or similar mission-critical public safety applications.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors system resources and analyzes the impact of operating system changes.
  • Applies operating system changes and manages software updates.
  • Serves as the subject matter expert for assigned enterprise and public safety applications, including Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), Records Management Systems (RMS), and emergency communications systems.
  • Collaborates with Information Technology team members to plan, implement, maintain, and support mission-critical systems.
  • Coordinates installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and upgrades of hardware, software, and infrastructure with IT team members, public safety personnel, vendors, and business partners.
  • Assists with the administration and support of Windows Server, Linux operating systems, virtualization platforms, Microsoft Active Directory, Entra ID, Microsoft 365, Microsoft SQL Server, enterprise storage, backup, and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Oversees backups and assists with disaster recovery planning, testing, and system restoration activities.
  • Monitors and analyzes system performance, availability, and errors, working closely with senior IT staff and vendors to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Develops and maintains technical documentation, system standards, and operational procedures.
  • Provides technical guidance and training to end-users and IT staff regarding enterprise and public safety applications.
  • Analyzes system faults, troubleshoots, and runs diagnostic tests on operating systems, applications, databases, virtualization platforms, and hardware to identify and resolve problems.
  • Researches, evaluates, recommends, and assists in deploying IT hardware, software, and services.
  • Implements automation solutions using scripting and systems management tools to improve operational efficiency and consistency.
  • Participates in technology planning, system lifecycle management, change management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Participates in an on-call rotation and assists with scheduled after-hours maintenance and emergency response activities to help ensure the continuous operation of mission-critical public safety systems.
