In the Division of Water Reclamation, under direction, the Systems Administrator will install and maintain the Water Reclamation plants SCADA system hardware and software. Responsibilities include: User support for management and operators using the desktop/HMI’s on the SCADA network. Installs new hardware and software packages. Modifies and adapts software features and structures to meet the needs of the clients. Maintains day-to-day operation of the Windows OS for desktops and servers including but not limited to upgrades, systems backups and recovery, user accounts, security Logs, creating/using batch files, and systems health status. Analyzes and resolves problems associated with desktop and server hardware and operating systems software. Detects, diagnoses, reports, and/or corrects system/server problems. Communicates with programmers and other IT staff to resolve these issues. Monitors, analyzes, and resolves security issues regarding the computer system and the network and evaluates and installs security patches & antivirus program. Remains current on operating system vulnerabilities. Writes and or adds to current system documentation, program specifications, production procedures, and other documentation that may include user manuals and instructions. Maintains accurate documentation and administrative information of the operating systems. Install, support, and maintain UPSes for core servers. Responsible for recycling old UPS chassis and batteries when the hardware refresh happens. Participates in Citywide information technology projects. Participates in professional activities to remain knowledgeable regarding developments in the field of systems administration. Performs related duties as required. This is primarily performed on premises at the facilities. 0% remote capability.
