About The Position

SHR Consulting Group is seeking an experienced Systems Administrator to support a mission-critical ECGS environment serving DoD and National Gateway customers. This position is responsible for the administration, configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintenance of ECGS applications and supporting infrastructure, including Service Desk, RI Router, Data Secure Transport (DST), Mailroom Profile libraries, Message Center, Windows Server, SQL Server, and IIS. The Systems Administrator will monitor system and network performance, analyze message routing and transmission issues, troubleshoot distributed applications, and execute manual failover procedures between cluster nodes to maintain operational continuity. The role also supports OS hardening, security patching, IAVA/STIG compliance, configuration management, and technical documentation in a secure DoD environment. The ideal candidate brings strong systems administration and troubleshooting skills, specialized ECGS experience, and the ability to rapidly resolve complex messaging and communications issues in a mission-critical operational environment.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in the administration, configuration, and maintenance of the Northrop Grumman ECGS application suite (large and/or small scale).
  • Hands-on experience configuring and managing ECGS tools, specifically Service Desk, RI Router, and DST (Data Secure Transport).
  • Proficiency in administering and troubleshooting backend dependencies, including Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS).
  • Experience with Protogate Communications serial-to-network hardware and software, and monitoring host Windows Operating Systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform manual failover maneuvers between active-passive or active-active cluster nodes, specifically supporting National Gateway customer redirections.
  • Proven capability to troubleshoot complex message routing anomalies and resolve critical transmission failures under pressure.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly document technical issues and coordinate status updates with program leadership.
  • Demonstrated experience operating in a secure DoD IT environment and adhering to strict configuration control frameworks.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of relevant IT experience.
  • Must possess an active DoD 8140/8570.01-M Baseline Certification (such as CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent IAT Level II) prior to start.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • Active Top Secret security clearance required at minimum.

Nice To Haves

  • Computing Environment (CE) certification in Microsoft Windows Server or Microsoft SQL Server is highly desired.
  • Advanced degree/ relevant professional certification preferred.
  • Additional years of experience can be substituted for degree requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and administer the Northrop Grumman Enterprise Communications Gateway System (ECGS) application suite, ensuring high-availability performance across both large and small-scale ECGS configurations.
  • Configure and maintain the ECGS/Mailroom Profile libraries and Message Center folders, including the design and deployment of custom profiles to support advanced message filtering and distribution rules.
  • Manage, configure, and troubleshoot ECGS tools and subsystems including Service Desk, RI Router, and DST (Data Secure Transport) configurations.
  • Administer and troubleshoot backend systems supporting the ECGS environment, specifically Microsoft SQL Server databases and Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) web servers.
  • Monitor, diagnose, and maintain hardware-to-software configurations, including Protogate Communications serial-to-network subcomponents.
  • Provide real-time monitoring of host Windows Operating Systems, local and remote distributed applications, and vital network connections.
  • Perform message routing analysis to proactively identify, troubleshoot, and resolve delivery failures, queue bottlenecks, and routing table issues.
  • Execute manual failover procedures between local Cluster site ECGS applications and alternate site cluster nodes in support of National Gateway customers.
  • Draft, update, and maintain technical documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and system configuration baselines for the messaging platform.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to maintain the system's security posture, including applying patches, OS hardening, and supporting vulnerability mitigation (IAVA/STIG compliance).
