About The Position

University Mechanical & Engineering Contractors (UMEC) is a wholly owned subsidiary of EMCOR Group. Inc. UMEC is a full-service mechanical contractor serving the western United States. UMEC designs, builds, and commissions mechanical systems, including heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC), plumbing and piping systems for commercial, institutional, high tech, industrial and military clients. University Mechanical & Engineering Contractors, Inc. is currently looking for a Systems Administrator for our Tempe, AZ location. The Systems Administrator position is responsible for supporting, troubleshooting, and maintaining the Companies computer servers and networks. A minimum of 4-5 years of experience in server-domain system management supporting 200+ users. A bachelor’s degree in computer science or information technology from an accredited college or university preferred.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology from an accredited college or university preferred
  • Minimum 4 year’s experience in server-domain system management supporting 200+ users (5 year’s experience preferred).
  • Experience with scripting or computer developing/programming desired.
  • Microsoft Certifications preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms with all levels of management
  • Ability to organize special programs for IT Department
  • Experience with VMware is a must
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Maintains a professional manner in actions and appearance when representing UMEC.
  • Must prioritize in a fast-paced, hands-on, multi-task environment.
  • Must have demonstrated ability to perform basic business mathematical functions.
  • Must work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work independently or in groups under a fast-paced work environment.
  • Must effectively manage time and details.
  • Must interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Must have organizational skills in handling & archiving technical data.
  • Must comply with all operating policies, procedures, plans, and programs.
  • Must have the demonstrated ability to effectively communicate in English, cooperate, and collaborate with multiple levels of customer, employees, unions, government agencies, vendors and suppliers, and other contractor organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Work on helpdesk tickets and provides quality customer service to staff and clients.
  • Design, install, configure, and test Microsoft Windows Server OSs with all roles-features.
  • Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade Microsoft Windows server operating systems and applications and other systems as appropriate, and will recognize and troubleshoot problems with server hardware and applications software.
  • Create and maintain VMware hosts and guest operating systems.
  • Create and maintain vCenter appliance.
  • Diagnose, recognize and troubleshoot problems with server hardware and applications software.
  • Maintain and test backups following 3-2-1 rule.
  • Maintain intranet site utilizing most recent technologies.
  • Maintain and administer computer networks and related computing environments, including computer hardware, systems software, applications software, and all configurations.
  • Experience with Autodesk CAD programs
  • Experience with Power Apps and Power BI
  • Recommend changes to improve systems and network configurations and determine hardware or software requirements related to such changes.
  • Maintain logs related to network functions, as well as maintenance and repair records.
  • Research new technology and implement or recommend its implementation.
  • Establishing and documenting standards and procedures, maintaining inventory of technological devices, working with outside vendors, and maintaining backup systems.
  • The job requires flexibility to coordinate with other schedules and may require work after normal business hours.
  • Depending on the layout of the business, significant physical activity is also potentially necessary.
  • Performance network analysis and troubleshooting.
  • Work after normal business hours as required for project work.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
