About The Position

SHR Consulting Group is seeking Storage Services Systems Administrators to operate and maintain an approximately 25-petabyte enterprise storage area network supporting Command and Control, Continuity of Operations, and Continuity of Business data requirements for the DISA J-9 Hosting and Compute environment. This is a hands-on role across a complex, multi-fabric, multi-environment SAN spanning on-premises, alternate site, and hybrid cloud, and it covers the full lifecycle — administration, virtualization, migration, backup and recovery, and automated failover for clustered tenant applications.

Requirements

  • Hands-on enterprise storage administration experience in a multi-fabric fiber channel SAN environment at scale
  • Experience with storage virtualization, block and file storage, and policy-based storage management
  • Experience with enterprise backup and recovery platforms, including disk-to-disk-to-cloud solutions with off-site replication
  • Experience with data replication, failover testing, clustering solutions, and backup and restore capability validation
  • Experience performing storage and backup platform migrations, upgrades, and decommissioning
  • Ability to perform capacity planning and predictive growth analysis for storage and backup systems
  • Experience applying STIGs and maintaining firmware and software currency on storage infrastructure
  • Experience in a DoD or comparable large, complex enterprise IT environment preferred
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Telecommunications, or Management Information Systems; or five (5) recent years of documented experience relevant to this position.
  • DoD 8570.01-M / DoD 8140 IAT Level II certification required prior to start (IAM Level I for designated hardware/software installation positions).
  • Computing environment certification in storage- or server-related technologies required, aligned to the assigned position.
  • Designated installation technician positions additionally require BICSI Installer I.
  • Active Top Secret clearance required for the majority of positions on this team; a limited number of positions may be filled at the Secret level.
  • U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver storage administration, storage virtualization, storage architecture, data storage transport, configuration, storage management software integration, and policy-based storage management using industry best practices
  • Operate and maintain a complex multi-environment, multi-fabric storage area network solution across on-premises, alternate site, and hybrid cloud environments
  • Own the full O&M lifecycle of the managed SAN environment, including software upgrades, migrations to new storage hardware platforms and cloud hosting environments, data storage transport, decommissioning, and storage rationalization
  • Provide migration support for relocation of on-premises storage to the future-state environment, supporting coherent migration of applications, data, software, and databases at a rate of no less than 10% of the total transition requirement per month
  • Perform installation, configuration, and tuning of backup servers, clients, application agents, storage targets, and management software in the enterprise backup environment
  • Monitor backup job reports and troubleshoot failed jobs daily; maintain backup service delivery consistent with existing customer service levels and the service catalog
  • Perform remediation of data spillage incidents
  • Use predictive growth analysis to indicate the need for additional capacity at least six months prior to shortfall
  • Perform knowledge transfer and customer training for customers managing their own backups and restores
  • Design, implement, and configure automated failover for clustering solutions on J-9 HAC and tenant-provided compute platforms, enabling access to data within two hours of a declared COOP activity
  • Conduct System Operational Verification Tests after each implementation and subsequent change, and conduct cluster health checks on production critical clusters prior to quarterly customer failover testing
  • Ensure system software, firmware, applications, and STIGs remain within one version of the latest manufacturer or Government release
  • Maintain the consolidated listing of all customer equipment and points of contact connected to the enterprise storage and backup platforms
  • Effectively utilize vendor warranty and maintenance support contracts for data storage and data storage transport
  • Participate in disaster recovery testing and produce required monthly reporting on storage utilization, capacity, installed software, and hardware failures
