About The Position

Five Stones Research Corporation (5SRC) is seeking energetic candidates to join our established and growing Huntsville-headquartered team. This role involves managing the daily activities of configuration and operation of the organization’s IT systems and applications, assisting with installation, maintenance, and general support of IT systems, and identifying and resolving problems associated with operating systems. The specialist will analyze and resolve issues related to server hardware/software and applications, detect, diagnose, and report problems on server, desktop, and mobile IT systems, and assist users with accessing and using IT systems. Responsibilities also include installing new software releases, system upgrades, evaluating and installing patches, performing system backup and recovery, maintaining data files, monitoring system configuration, performing system capacity analysis and planning, and optimizing system operation. Additionally, the role involves developing and implementing policies and procedures to ensure systems meet business requirements and defining system requirements based on user/client needs, cost, scalability, and integration.

Requirements

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree; or an Associate’s degree with at least 2 years of experience; at least 60 semester hours of formal education working towards an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree and at least 4 years of experience; or 6 years of experience.
  • The degree must be in a relevant technical curriculum and experience must be related to the job duties.
  • Must be familiar with a variety of systems administration concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Must be adept at problem solving, identifying risk, and communicating results and recommendations to department management.
  • Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance, or the ability to obtain one.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • DoD 8570.01M IAT/IAM/IASAE certification

Nice To Haves

  • Additional certifications (other than those required for the position) in the area of specialization can be substituted for experience or education but varies by certification.
  • A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements policies and procedures to ensure that systems support the organization's business requirements and meet the needs of end users.
  • Defines system requirements based on user/client needs, cost, scalability, and required integration with existing applications, systems, or platforms.
