About The Position

Amatriot is seeking an accomplished Red Hat Enterprise Linux Administrator to provide expertise in managing and optimizing assets for a federal client’s critical operations. The Red Hat Enterprise Linux Administrator is responsible for managing and maintaining the RHEL infrastructure, including system administration, configuration, troubleshooting, and ensuring the stability, security, and performance of the RHEL environment.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience working as a system administrator on Linux or Red Hat systems is required.
  • Related experience is acceptable.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance is required.
  • Must be able to report onsite to Annapolis Junction, Maryland.
  • Due to contract requirements, only U.S. citizens can be considered.
  • Candidates with dual citizenship cannot be considered.
  • Candidates must be willing and able to meet recall requirements, including participation in a rotational on-call schedule.

Responsibilities

  • RHEL System Administration: Administer, support, and optimize RHEL-based server infrastructure, including RHEL 7.x, 8.x, and 9.x.
  • Perform installation, configuration, upgrades, and patch management.
  • Perform daily system administration tasks, including user management, permissions, file systems, and network configuration.
  • Provide technical guidance and support for system integration, migrations, and upgrades.
  • Performance, Availability, and Recovery: Monitor, analyze, and tune system performance.
  • Identify and resolve bottlenecks to ensure reliability and efficiency.
  • Execute backup, restore, and disaster recovery operations to safeguard data and maintain high availability.
  • Assess, recommend, and implement hardware and software solutions to meet evolving business and technical requirements.
  • Security and Compliance: Conduct vulnerability assessments and remediation using tools such as Tenable, HP WebInspect, and other industry-standard platforms.
  • Investigate security incidents, assess risks, and design mitigation strategies.
  • Implement proactive and reactive security measures.
  • Manage and apply DISA STIGs and mitigate Known Exploitable Vulnerabilities to ensure compliance and security.
  • Automation, Documentation, and Collaboration: Automate routine tasks and system management using Ansible Automation Platform, scripting languages such as Bash and Python, and other tools to improve operational efficiency.
  • Develop, maintain, and update documentation for system configurations, processes, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including network, storage, application, and security teams, to support integrated solutions and resolve complex issues.
