About The Position

This position provides IT systems administration and support for Applied Research Labs (ARL) staff and departments. The role involves supporting Windows desktop environments, deploying and updating Windows systems, performing configuration management, and supporting various system peripherals. The administrator will also be responsible for maintaining records and reporting on system assets, and performing other related functions as assigned.

Requirements

  • HS/GED.
  • Two years of experience in system administration within a Windows environment.
  • Knowledge of computer and peripheral systems, operation, and installation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently without daily supervision.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information while maintaining a professional demeanor.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clientele.
  • A strong attention to detail.
  • Regular and punctual attendance with an ability to simultaneously process multiple projects.
  • Acquire and maintain an IAT Level II certification (Security+ or better).
  • US Citizen: Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information at the level appropriate to the project requirements of the position.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in computer science, management information systems, or related field.
  • At least 2 years supporting systems within a Windows environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft software suites, Adobe applications, driver installations, and other routine tasks.
  • PowerShell and/or other scripting experience.
  • Experience with other Microsoft server software, features, and platforms.
  • Experience with VPN, Remote Desktop, and other support tools.
  • Basic knowledge of Active Directory and RSAT tools.
  • Experience with Linux and Mac operating systems.
  • Experience with ServiceNow ticket and asset management.
  • Experience in Customer Service.
  • Verbal Communication Skills.
  • Troubleshooting, Problem-Solving, Analytical Skills.
  • Security+ or A+ certification.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical assistance (software, hardware, and authentication issues) to users of Windows computer systems.
  • Install, configure, deploy, and update Windows systems for users, departments, and VM farms while adhering to required security configurations.
  • Perform routine hardware and software audits and maintain system maintenance logs.
  • Configure, deploy, repair, and scuttle various system peripherals such as printers, copiers, UI devices, and conference room equipment.
  • Administer various system services within the Windows AD infrastructure.
  • Provide records of work performed and report status of system assets.
  • Perform other related functions as assigned.
