About The Position

Under the leadership of the department director and assistant director, the Systems Administrator II is responsible for installing new software releases, system upgrades, evaluating and installing patches, and resolving software-related problems. This role performs system backups and recovery, maintains data files, and monitors system configuration to ensure data integrity. The Systems Administrator II arranges and administers security measures to restrict unauthorized use of data systems and databases, coordinates security investigations, and executes preventative measures. This position analyzes and resolves problems associated with operating systems, detects, diagnoses, and reports related problems. The individual is familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures for various operating systems, and relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. This role performs a variety of tasks, works under general supervision, and requires a certain degree of creativity and latitude.

Requirements

  • Two (2) to four (4) years of systems operations, management and administration experience.
  • Experience in a clustered environment.
  • Knowledge of a system command language required.
  • Knowledge of data processing concepts, computer operations procedures, and software applications.
  • Familiarity with system monitoring tools.
  • Ability to read and follow complex instructions.
  • Ability to maintain written records.
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in written format.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to make independent judgments in solving problems.
  • Ability to work as a team member.
  • Must reside in California and be within commuting distance to work location in Monterey, CA.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with hospital application systems desirable.
  • Knowledge of PowerShell and/or Linux shell scripting preferred.
