About The Position

The Rescue Mission is seeking a full-time Systems Administrator to work in our IT dept. in Syracuse, NY. The Systems Administrator I provides direct user support, including detailed updates in ticketing system. This position creates and maintains high-quality user, system and problem documentation, as well as configures, installs and maintains hardware and software in a Windows environment and iPad and PC-based Point of Sale hardware at our Thrifty Shopper and 3fifteen stores. The Systems Administrator I researches hardware and software, makes purchasing recommendations, identifies issues and recommends solutions. Ongoing training provided. This position will be required to participate in low volume On-Call rotation.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Information Systems or equivalent experience required.
  • Valid NYS Driver License and access to personal vehicle required.
  • Reliable home internet required.
  • High level of detail orientation, troubleshooting, and communication required.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Demonstrates capacity for organization, prioritization and management in a dynamic environment.
  • Writes and speaks clearly and concisely.
  • Able to understand and execute written and verbal instructions.
  • Positive, effective and professional customer service skills.
  • Maintains confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor helpdesk, provide prompt and accurate user support.
  • Provide detailed ticket updates on a daily basis.
  • Create and maintain timely, high-quality user, system, and problem documentation.
  • Use and follow department documentation to complete tasks.
  • Research hardware and software, make purchase recommendations.
  • Configure, install and maintain a wide variety of hardware – Windows desktops, laptops and servers, iPads, digital signs, security cameras, printers, Meraki network equipment.
  • Make recommendations for improvement based upon reported or potential problems.
  • Perform server maintenance, install and update server software.
  • Participate in department meetings, providing input and suggestions.
  • Configure, install and maintain iPad and PC-based Point of Sale hardware.
  • Clear written and verbal communication with users, teammates and vendors.
  • Assist departmental management with development of systems standards, strategic directions and priorities.
  • Must be available after hours to accept and respond to any on-call emergencies.
  • Regular and predictable in-person attendance is an essential requirement of the job.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
