About The Position

The System Administrator will be working in a team environment and be responsible for the management, security, maintenance, monitoring, operation, and upgrading of the Facilities Department's computers/servers, as well as, providing ongoing technical and troubleshooting support for department staff. Additionally, this role will leverage API integration and data analytics reporting metrics. This position will be hired as either a Systems Administrator I or II depending on qualifications/experience and duties assigned.

Requirements

  • Systems Administrator I: 4 years of related experience, OR Associate’s degree + 2 years experience, OR Bachelor’s degree in Business Information Systems (BIS) or related field.
  • Systems Administrator II: 6 years of related experience, OR Associate’s degree + 4 years experience, OR Bachelor’s degree + 2 years experience, OR Master’s degree in BIS or related field.
  • Strong knowledge of LAN administration, data security, and network protocols.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex systems and communicate technical information to non-technical staff.
  • Knowledge of RESTful API concepts, web services, and data exchange formats (JSON, XML).
  • Ability to analyze complex data sets to drive operational efficiency and department reporting.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Active Directory, SQL Server (2017-2025), and Server Virtualization (VMware/Hyper-V).
  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Software (e.g., AIM) and report writing tools (e.g., Power BI, Birt, Argos).
  • Experience with API integrations and advanced data analytics/reporting.
  • Proficiency in Windows/Mac environments, IIS/Apache Web Servers, and backup solutions (e.g., Veeam).
  • Knowledge of programming languages (e.g., Java, JavaScript, Python).

Responsibilities

  • Manage and secure servers, workstations, and network infrastructure, including firewalls, user access, and disaster recovery.
  • Develop, manage, and secure linked databases, including SQL scripting, data integrity, and bulk data operations.
  • Evaluate, install, and troubleshoot hardware, peripherals, and software for the Facilities department.
  • Provide technical troubleshooting and training to users regarding operating systems, applications, and mobile devices (Android/iOS).
  • Design custom applications and develop programs to interface with university systems.
  • Research emerging technologies, recommend upgrades, and develop data management procedures.
