About The Position

Maintains smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination with network administrators. Interacts with users and evaluates vendor products. Makes recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinates installation and provides backup recovery. Develops and monitors policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources. Ancillary duties may include setting up administrator and service accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing system wide software and allocating mass storage space. Disaster Recovery Specific Develop, update, and maintain comprehensive disaster recovery (DR) plans for IT systems, networks, and applications. Conduct risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities and define recovery priorities. Plan and manage DR testing and simulation exercises (e.g., failover tests, tabletop exercises) to ensure plans work when needed. Document DR procedures, contact lists, recovery steps, and post-test reports. Report on recovery readiness, risks, and recommended improvements to leadership. Maintain the IT Disaster Recovery plan for NNS. Work with technical teams across AORs in the maintenance of Information System Continuity Plans (ISCPs). Analyze ISCP content for opportunities to enhance their effectiveness and integration. Understand the inventory, design, and capabilities of the Alternate Recovery site. Coordinate and drive annual testing activities. Maintain records. Communicate results. Pursue remediation of discovered gaps. Interface with company Business Continuity plan management and ensure alignment of IT processes and procedures with them. Monitor IT Change Management for infrastructure changes. Analyze potential impact on recovery capabilities. Lead Severe Storm planning as part of Crisis Management and Business Continuity. Maintain Operations and Data Center checklists. Data Center Specific Individual would serve as the primary POC at the Sandston (QTS - Richmond) Data Center. Would support Data Center activities at NNS (B521) as required. Rack and stack new servers at QTS, allocate space and power, help at 521 when I am there Run all fiber and copper cabling at QTS (this includes planning all ports needed for the server), help at 521 when I am there Help troubleshoot cabling, network, power, ILO issues. Touch labor for admins Serve as Supplier POC at QTS for vender support (DELL, INFINIDAT, HPE, IBM, Oracle) Coordinate Badging at QTS location. Work with NNS security per procedures. Perform periodic checks on equipment for trouble lights, temperature, safety, security Receive and surplus equipment, coordinate with suppliers, shippers, teams, asset management Maintain/order additional rack power as needed. Coordinate with electricians Oversee Environmental monitoring, Halon, UPS. Respond to alarms. Train others

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of relevant exempt experience; Master’s Degree and 0 year of relevant professional experience
  • One of the following may be used as an equivalent to Bachelor's Degree for Information Technology Related Positions Only: NNS Apprentice School graduate Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate Associate's Degree or other formal 2 year program and 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non-exempt experience Military Paygrade E-5 or above military experience High School/GED and 4 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant exempt experience High School/GED and 8 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant non-exempt experience
  • A relevant professional certification can be substituted for a Bachelor's Degree.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related field
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related field
