System Test Technician I

About The Position

The System Test Technician I uses basic skills and on-the-job training to test lens assemblies and report results to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager. The technician is responsible for upholding testing standards in accordance with Jenoptik’s Quality Policy. This is an entry-level position, and training will be provided on all system testing.

Requirements

High school degree or GED.
Ability to use Word, Excel, Outlook, and specialty software used in a laboratory environment.
Good interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to read and write English.
Pass an annual standard vision test.
Ability to work with all team members in the department and company.
U.S. citizenship or status as a Qualified U.S. Worker.

Nice To Haves

Experience testing optical components, including lenses with spherical and aspheric surfaces, and subassemblies using Zygo interferometers.
Experience in optical manufacturing.
Experience with MTF testing of precision optical assemblies.
Experience with autocollimators, microscopes, power meters, spectrophotometers, and alignment telescopes.
Experience in a computer-controlled environment.

Responsibilities

Perform basic interferometric and MTF testing of lens assemblies and document the work.
Perform transmission testing of lens assemblies.
Perform field mapping and distortion testing of lens assemblies.
Document required test results in accordance with Good Documentation Practices.
Understand and follow document-control and revision procedures.
Communicate test results and progress to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager or System Test Supervisor.
Provide the direct supervisor with feedback and recommendations about issues that negatively affect testing cycles.
Keep the lab clean and organized, emphasizing 5S and LEAN initiatives.
Support measurement of aspheric surfaces as needed.
Follow company procedures and policies.
Perform other duties as assigned.
