About The Position

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is hiring a System Test Engineer or Principal System Test Engineer for the Control Segment team. The position is located at Edwards AFB or Palmdale, California. The role supports test events by ensuring the System-Under-Test is ready to be tested safely and efficiently, providing test-team subject matter expertise, troubleshooting issues and anomalies, and documenting efforts and resolutions in accordance with procedures alongside Test and Quality Engineering. The engineer also performs software installations, maintains hardware and software configuration management, and authors or edits procedures. The position may be filled at Level 2 or Level 3 depending on qualifications. The role requires an active U.S. Government Top Secret clearance and the ability to obtain and maintain SAP clearance. Employees must be willing to work a flexible schedule that may include pre-planned extended shifts, holidays, and weekends. The posting offers a 4/10 schedule with Fridays off, flexible work arrangements, learning opportunities, and a team environment. Travel is 10% of the time.

Requirements

For Level 2: Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline and 2 years of related professional or military experience, or a master's degree and 0 years of related professional or military experience.
For Level 3: Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline and 5 years of related professional or military experience, or a master's degree and 3 years of related professional or military experience, or a Ph.D. and 1 year of related professional or military experience.
Active U.S. Government Top Secret clearance, with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrollment in Continuous Evaluation.
Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs.
Experience with Linux and Windows operating systems.
Computer network hardware and software configuration experience.
Familiarity with the Linux command line.
Willingness to work a flexible schedule that may include pre-planned extended shifts, holidays, and weekends.

Nice To Haves

Current applicable Special Access Program (SAP) clearance.
Ability to read and understand engineering blueprints or drawings, including electrical interconnects and equipment racks.
Ability to obtain and maintain an IAT Level 2 Security Certification (Security+, CySA+, CCNA Security, GICSP, GSEC, SSCP) or IAT DoD Level 3 certification (CASP, CCNP-Security, CISA, CISSP, GCED, GCIH), or ability to obtain and maintain one within 6 months of the start date.
Experience with line-of-sight and beyond-line-of-sight radio frequency systems.
Experience with U.S. government aircraft operations.
Familiarity with Crew Resource Management.
Ability to read and understand network configurations, including routing protocols, network address translations, and multicast.
Virtualization experience with VMware vSphere.
Knowledge of flight test operations.
Experience with systems test processes.

Responsibilities

Ensure System-Under-Test readiness so tests can be executed safely and efficiently.
Serve as an integral part of the test team and provide subject matter expertise during test events.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues during test events as required.
Assess anomalies, document troubleshooting efforts, and develop resolutions in accordance with documented procedures in conjunction with Test and Quality Engineering.
Perform software installations as required.
Maintain configuration management of software and hardware.
Author and edit procedure documents as required.
