The System Safety Engineer, Subject Matter Expert will support the various projects located in Pasadena, California. This position is focused on system safety requirements and safety hazard analyses. Requirements

  • US Citizenship due to the sensitivity of customer related information.
  • Bachelor's degree in the field of engineering.
  • 10+ years of recent and related work experience.
  • Experience working in systems safety working groups - SSWG, WSESRB, SSSTRP, etc.
  • Experience building and communicating a safety case for re-design/risk acceptance.
  • Requirements management and development experience, to include DOORS and/or CRADL.
  • Ability to interface with customer and program management.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and TEAMS.
  • Team players with strong work ethics and must be culture oriented.
  • Able to communicate effectively, verbally and in written form, with internal and external customers.
  • Able to follow company programs, processes, procedures, practices, requirements, goals, and objectives.
  • Organized with good time management skills and must be able to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Active Secret or TS-SCI level clearance

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate hardware and software ensuring mission success.
  • Develop and/or update Preliminary Hazard List (PHL), Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA), Functional Hazard Analyses (FHAs), System Hazard Analyses (SHA), and Safety Assessment Reports (SAR).
  • Prepare presentations and participate in Design Reviews, Test Readiness Reviews, Technical Interchange Meetings, and various working groups and safety review meetings.
  • Support the development and updating of System Safety documents to support Customer, Range Safety, and contractual requirements.
  • Review and provide input to test procedures for adherence to System Safety requirements.
  • Coordinate with test range safety teams and writing range safety reports to support testing.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of a Hazard Tracking System (HTS) used to document real and potential hazards and their mitigation strategy for the program.
  • This position has potential to support various software safety activities.
