About The Position

You will be the Senior System Safety Engineer (SSE) for the Missiles & Fire Control (MFC) Advanced Programs team. Our team safeguards every product we deliver to customers, ensuring that the warfighter is protected through rigorous safety engineering and compliance. As the Senior System Safety Engineer, you will own the development, execution, and continual improvement of system safety programs across multiple missile and fire control programs. You’ll work independently and partner with engineers, software developers, trainers, and customers to embed safety into every design decision.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in an engineering discipline
  • Experience developing and implementing a System Safety Program IAW MIL-STD-882
  • Developing and evaluating system safety requirements
  • Familiarity with implementing a Software Safety Program IAW AOP-52 and DoD guidelines
  • Working knowledge of MIL-STD-882 and its associated analyses
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to make formal presentations to large groups
  • Interacts well in a team atmosphere with engineers, suppliers, program managers and customers
  • Ability to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance
  • MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN
  • This position is located at a facility that requires special access.
  • The selected candidate must be able to obtain a secret clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Developing hazard analyses, safety assessments, and risk based mitigation strategies for hardware, software, training, and procedures.
  • Defining and applying safety criteria, ensuring they are reflected in system architecture, specifications, and test plans.
  • Preparing clear technical presentations, reports, and safety documentation for internal stakeholders and customers.
  • Leading System Safety Working Group meetings, driving consensus, and tracking action items.
  • Reviewing design changes, configuration updates, and specification revisions for potential safety impacts and recommending corrective actions.
  • Participating in accident/incident investigations, identifying root causes, and implementing lessons learned across the program line.
  • Maintaining compliance with government and industry safety standards (e.g., MIL STD 882, ARP 4761) and supporting safety certifications as needed.
