About The Position

Babcock is seeking a System Safety Engineer to join their team and help shape safe, reliable and innovative solutions across the engineering lifecycle. This role involves applying established engineering principles to develop designs, analyses and technical solutions that support Babcock’s products and services. The engineer will work independently with support when needed, contribute to safety assessments, and help strengthen engineering capability.

Requirements

2 years’ experience in a relevant engineering or technical role.
Strong understanding of engineering toolsets (e.g., PLM, MRP, design or analysis software).
Accredited engineering degree (Washington Accord) or equivalent pathway to Professional Engineer membership.
Eligibility for membership with a recognised engineering body and commitment to CPD.
Current driver’s licence and White Card.
Ability to obtain and maintain a defence clearance.
Must be eligible to obtain an appropriate level of Commonwealth Personnel Security Clearance.
Compliance with the US International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the AU Defence Trade Controls Act 2012 will be assessed.

Responsibilities

Conduct technical investigations to support problem resolution and design improvements.
Deliver engineering tasks to time, cost and quality requirements.
Produce technical documentation aligned with engineering governance and DoA.
Perform single‑domain safety and risk assessments.
Provide engineering advice to internal stakeholders.
Support design, analysis and manufacturing integration.
Contribute to process and lifecycle improvements across the organisation.
