About The Position

The Florida Gaming Control Commission is responsible for exercising all regulatory and executive powers of the state with respect to legal gaming, including pari-mutuel wagering, cardrooms, slot machine facilities, oversight of gaming compacts, and other forms of gambling authorized by state law, excluding the Lottery, as well as directly enforcing Florida’s gaming laws and combatting illegal gambling activities. The agency is overseen by five Commissioners who are appointed by the Governor, with Commissioners appointing an Executive Director who leads a team of nearly 200 staff members. The mission of the Florida Gaming Control Commission is to preserve and integrity of gaming activities through fair regulation, licensing, effective criminal investigation, and enforcement. Requirements

  • Four (4) years of professional network engineering experience in a government or enterprise environment; OR a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
  • Experience with cabling and physical equipment installation.
  • Experience with cloud services, firewalls, routers, switches, wireless, SDN/SD-WAN.
  • Experience with multi-site network environments.
  • Experience with standards such as BICSI, ISO 27001, ISO 20000, ISO 9001 and NIST SP Frameworks.
  • Reliable and dependable.
  • Strong skills in problem-solving and critical thinking.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Performs full-stack networking responsibilities, including cabling and hardware installation to advanced network engineering and architecture.
  • Administers advanced firewalls, including rule engineering and troubleshooting.
  • Applies and maintains network security controls in accordance with FGCC and State of Florida standards.
  • Conducts lifecycle planning and performance optimization.
  • Coordinates Zero-Trust and security compliance measures.
  • Coordinates with vendors, service providers, and interagency personnel for network-related projects and support.
  • Creates training materials and conducts training regarding networking-related applications and tasks.
  • Deploys and maintains structured cabling and physical network infrastructure.
  • Designs and maintains network topology documentation.
  • Develops operational standards and best practices.
  • Engineers routing, switching, wireless, and VPN solutions.
  • Implements hybrid-cloud and SDN/SD-WAN network solutions.
  • Leads network upgrades and modernization projects.
  • Monitors network performance using diagnostics tools.
  • Participates in cybersecurity response activities.
  • Supports and maintains the agency’s Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) network connection and ensuring compliance.
  • Supports core services such as DHCP, DNS, VLANs, VoIP, and wireless.
  • Tests and maintains disaster recovery strategies.
  • Works with vendors and partners on engineering tasks.
  • Performs special projects and duties as assigned.
