About The Position

AFL manufactures industry-leading fiber optic cable, connectivity and accessories and provides engineering and installation services for some of the largest telecom customers in the world. The System Performance Engineer is responsible for wireless carrier system performance, supporting technical activities for ongoing maintenance and monitoring of wireless systems. This involves notifying carriers and venue owners of system health, providing technical services and support to resolve customer network malfunctions, and using RF test equipment to evaluate system performance, compliance compatibility, and troubleshoot operational issues. The role also includes carrying out RF test execution and generating status and test reports, and attending training classes for OEM products to become knowledgeable in current DAS/Small Cell technologies.

Requirements

  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple projects and tasks
  • Excellent Customer service skills
  • Think critically and problem solve
  • 4 year BS (engineering or science) plus 1-3 years Telecom experience or 3-5 years minimum Telecom experience with Associate’s Degree or related College courses
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Visio
  • Handle confidential/ sensitive information with discretion
  • Good judgment
  • Familiar with Carrier testing and closeout package requirements

Responsibilities

  • Identify system performance problems and possible solutions
  • Resolve customer service issues and assist in implementing solutions
  • Collect data in support of performance evaluations and program optimization
  • Responsible for “Pager Duty” alarm clearing
  • Repair and install equipment as needed
  • Work with internal department managers as needed to meet company objectives
  • Work with Deployment and Construction counterparts to hit project timelines and goals
  • Evaluate coverage problems and new service area requirements for coverage cells
  • At times, identify causes of RF interference and troubleshooting interference problems with various customers
  • Organize and conduct meetings as necessary to meet departmental objectives
  • Work closely with Construction team to oversee infrastructure modifications
  • Attend weekly meeting with customer
