About The Position

The Systems Operator I performs manual and equipment operation tasks supporting the safe and efficient operation of cement plant systems. This role assists with material handling, equipment operation, inspections, servicing, and housekeeping activities while maintaining communication with plant leadership and control room personnel. The Systems Operator I plays a key role in maintaining continuous plant operations while adhering to safety, environmental, and operational standards.

Requirements

Mechanical aptitude with the ability to operate heavy equipment and use hand tools.
Ability to read, understand, and follow safety rules, operating instructions, and warning notices.
Ability to communicate effectively and maintain positive working relationships with supervisors and co-workers.
Ability to recognize abnormal equipment conditions and take appropriate action.
Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines while maintaining safety and quality.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while contributing effectively as part of a team.
Prior experience operating heavy equipment required.
Ability to work in a physically demanding and sometimes stressful industrial environment.
Ability to follow direction, react calmly in emergency situations, and maintain focus on safety.
Commitment to working safely and complying with all company, plant, and MSHA safety policies.
Willingness to learn plant systems, equipment, and safety requirements.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or GED preferred.
Previous experience in cement plant operations preferred.

Responsibilities

Operate front-end loaders to load raw materials such as marl, limestone, gypsum, clinker, and other materials into designated hoppers or feeders.
Inspect heavy equipment and machinery for wear, leaks, and abnormal conditions and perform basic servicing including lubrication and fluid checks.
Clean chutes, equipment, machinery, and work areas to maintain safe and efficient operating conditions.
Complete safety and maintenance logs and equipment checklists prior to and during equipment operation.
Fill or bag material bins supporting raw mill grinding and related systems.
Communicate operating status, issues, and needs with the Shift Foreman and Control Room.
Perform area equipment checks and update inspection check sheets throughout the shift.
Participate in continuous improvement activities and contribute ideas to enhance efficiency and work processes.
Identify and immediately report unsafe conditions and ensure compliance with all safety rules and procedures.
