About The Position

The Newport Engineering Office (NEO) is seeking an engineer to be a System Administrator to support the networks, systems, and user environments used for the development and deployment of simulators designed by NEO. This position is based on-site at the Newport Engineering Office in Middletown, RI. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively within a team environment to maintain the Unclassified Information System (UIS) network, ensuring the Sim/Stim engineering group has reliable access to the tools and resources required for simulator development. Responsibilities include implementing Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) controls, performing regular system patching, and supporting overall system health. In addition, the selected candidate will provide regular system patching and troubleshooting support for simulators located within the Classified Information Systems (CIS) environments in Groton, CT. Travel between Newport, RI and Groton, CT will be required approximately twice per month. This is an opportunity to work with a diverse group of engineers engaged in technically challenging projects for the US Navy. Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Management Information Systems
  • 1-5 years of post-graduate engineering experience
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products
  • Good communication, written and verbal
  • Good with multi-tasking
  • Strong critical thinking and troubleshooting skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with implementing or maintaining Access Control Lists (ACLs)
  • Experience with implementing or maintaining DOD STIGs
  • Experience with hypervisors such as Hyper-V
  • Experience with Agile software development using Jira
  • Experience with version control software such as Git
  • Current or previous Secret (or higher) clearance
  • Experience with multiple OS platforms with strong emphasis on Linux (RHEL) and Windows
  • Experience with maintaining & administrating Windows servers, Active Directory, and Group Policy
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VLANs
  • Proficiency in at least one scripting language (Bash, PowerShell, etc.)
