About The Position

The System Engineer provides world-class customer service while keeping safety and compliance the top priorities at Alaska Airlines (AS). This Engineer, as part of the Engineering department, works with a team to establish preventative aircraft maintenance procedures and reliability improvements in the interest of safety, cost reduction, and fleet maintenance improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree, with a focus in aerospace or mechanical engineering, or related discipline; or an additional two years of training/experience in lieu of this degree.
  • Knowledge of Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations, operating policies, and procedures.
  • Strong computer skills including MS Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat.
  • Basic knowledge and some experience in key ATA focus areas, including: chapters 21, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 32, 35, 36 and 47.
  • 2 years of experience in aerospace or mechanical engineering, or related area.
  • Strong knowledge of system engineering with some of the following fleet types: B717, B737, A321, A330, B787 type.
  • Experience & strong knowledge of Key ATA focus areas, including: chapters 21, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 32, 35, 36 and 47.
  • Strong Knowledge of Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations, operating policies, and procedures.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum age of 18.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Under supervision, develop repairs, alterations, and maintenance specifications and provides engineering assistance to all departments within the Maintenance & Engineering (M&E) division.
  • Provide input into preventative maintenance procedures and reliability improvements in the interest of safety, cost reduction, and fleet maintenance improvements.
  • Update and maintain Aircraft Illustrated Parts Catalog, as required.
  • Assist Senior Engineering teammates with developing systems and Airworthiness Directive task cards.
  • Review and update project tasks, schedule, and change requests in the engineering department’s project and change management system.
  • Investigate problems and proposes modifications, evaluates proposal merits, and recommends solutions.
  • Become familiar with FAA part 121 and 25 regulations.
  • Develops repairs, alterations, and maintenance specifications and provides engineering assistance to all departments within the Maintenance & Engineering (M&E) division.
  • Establish preventative maintenance procedures and reliability improvements in the interest of safety, cost reduction, and fleet maintenance improvements.
  • Develop Airworthiness Directive Compliance Plans.
  • Familiar with Maintenance Programs.
  • Manages and maintains all OEM recommendations (Service Bulletins (SB), Service Letters (SL) for incorporation into the fleet.
  • Review TC documents with your customers (maintenance, planning, records, inspection, etc.) to ensure they are implemented efficiently.
  • Utilizes technical expertise and practical experience to disposition complex technical issue.
  • Researches, recommends and approves part alternatives.
