About The Position

The Server Product Team at Supermicro is seeking a highly skilled System Engineer to lead the technical development and validation of in-house multi-node server platforms, including next-generation systems and OCP-based solutions. This role requires a self-driven engineer with strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and hands-on experience with server hardware and system-level validation. The System Engineer will act as a subject matter expert (SME), supporting Product Management and Engineering teams in system architecture design, implementation, testing, and deployment for data center and enterprise customers. Deep knowledge of server hardware architecture—including CPU, motherboard, memory, storage, networking, GPU, PCIe, SATA, and SAS protocols—is required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in server system development, validation, or production-related roles.
  • Strong understanding of server architecture and hardware, including: CPU, motherboard, memory, storage, networking, GPU
  • PCIe, SATA, SAS protocols
  • OS-level concepts and system integration
  • Experience with system configuration, validation, debugging, troubleshooting, and performance benchmarking.
  • Familiarity with Intel and AMD platforms
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and diagrams.
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools for system assembly and hardware installation.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset.

  • experience with HPC and vSAN environments is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Product Managers to define system specifications, configurations, and feature requirements.
  • Participate in and support the full system development lifecycle, from concept and design through launch, production, and end-of-life (EOL).
  • Ensure system deliverables meet quality, schedule, and performance targets.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Component Management, Sales, Manufacturing, and Lab teams to ensure cohesive system development and execution.
  • Serve as a technical liaison between internal teams to resolve system-level issues efficiently.
  • Support system bring-up, assembly, and validation activities in the lab.
  • Coordinate with lab managers and validation teams to ensure all testing aligns with defined system specifications.
  • Perform parts application and system assembly, including CPU, motherboard, memory, storage, networking, GPU, and drives.
  • Perform system-level root cause analysis to identify and isolate hardware, firmware, or integration issues.
  • Collaborate with R&D teams to define and implement short-term and long-term corrective actions.
  • Provide technical guidance to manufacturing and production teams to resolve system-level issues.
  • Contribute to internal cable design specifications and related processes.
  • Support pilot runs, production ramp, and ongoing manufacturing quality improvements.
  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills to address complex system issues in development and production environments.
