The Role NetX is seeking a Systems Engineer to help maintain, improve, and scale our SaaS infrastructure. In this role, you will troubleshoot system issues, implement long-term solutions, and contribute to the reliability, performance, and security of our platform. You’ll work closely with a collaborative engineering team in a flexible environment inspired by the Shape Up methodology, where communication, ownership, and continuous improvement are highly valued.

Requirements

Associate degree or equivalent work experience.
5+ years of experience administering Linux-based systems.
3+ years of experience with application stacks such as Tomcat, Apache, or NGINX.
3+ years of cloud experience, preferably AWS.
Experience with containerization and virtualization technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, or VMware.
Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Icinga, Prometheus, or Grafana.
Experience with automation tools such as Ansible.
Strong scripting skills in Bash, Python, or similar languages.
Solid networking knowledge including TCP/IP, OSI layers, and firewall management.

Nice To Haves

Experience with Digital Asset Management (DAM) platforms.
Familiarity with tools and technologies such as: GitLab, Java, DNS, FFMpeg, ImageMagick, Ghostscript, ExifTool, Jira
Experience working with digital media workflows or Adobe Creative Suite.
Familiarity with the Shape Up development methodology.

Responsibilities

Manage and monitor systems, infrastructure, and application environments.
Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Linux-based systems and software.
Monitor application performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement improvements.
Maintain security, backup, redundancy, and disaster recovery strategies.
Develop and maintain automation scripts and infrastructure tools (e.g., Ansible).
Support cloud, containerized, and virtualized environments.
Participate in on-call rotation for operational support.
Collaborate with developers, support teams, and vendors to resolve issues efficiently.
Continuously identify opportunities for automation and proactive improvements.
Occasionally perform physical hardware tasks onsite at a Portland data center.
