About The Position

Valkyrie Enterprises has an immediate need for a System Engineer III with expertise in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) to provide engineering support to the Ship Self-Defense System (SSDS) Integration Engineering Team (IET). This role is in Virginia Beach, VA. Develops and maintains working relationships with External Combat System Elements (CSEs) that directly interface and exchange message data with the SSDS MK 2 Combat System. Organizes, coordinates, and supports Combat System Interface Control Working Groups (ICWGs). Supports SSDS Local Configuration Control Boards (LCCBs) and associated configuration management activities. Supports the SSDS Navy Review Team (NRT) and associated technical review activities. Maintains and sustains the IRS/IDS/IDS Electronic Document Library. Tracks, maintains, and reports the status of External CSE Interface Documentation to ensure interface documentation remains accurate and current. Applies Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) principles and methodologies to support system architecture, integration, and engineering activities. Supports the development and maintenance of system models, architectural views, interface definitions, and other technical engineering documentation. Collaborates with engineering teams, stakeholders, and external organizations to identify and resolve system integration and interface issues. Identifies technical gaps, vulnerabilities, and opportunities for improvement and develops solutions to improve system effectiveness, efficiency, and maintainability. Supports technical reviews, engineering analyses, and configuration management efforts throughout the system lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical discipline and at least 5+ years of experience in Systems Engineering and/or Enterprise Architecture with a focus on Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
  • Must have experience working with Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Project and Excel.
  • Must possess a strong understanding of systems engineering principles, system architecture, requirements, interfaces, and system integration.
  • Must possess strong technical and analytical skills with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Must have an active Secret Security Clearance and meet applicable base access requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience utilizing MBSE tools such as Cameo Enterprise Architecture, IBM Rational Rhapsody, or Sparx Enterprise Architect, preferred.
  • Experience with Model-Based Product Line Engineering (MBPLE) within Cameo, preferred.
  • Experience developing system models, architectural solutions, and graphical representations of complex systems, preferred.
  • Experience supporting complex combat systems, Navy systems, or other Department of Defense (DoD) engineering environments, preferred.
  • Experience with system interface documentation, Interface Control Documents (ICDs), or similar technical interface documentation, preferred.
  • Experience supporting technical working groups, configuration control boards, or formal engineering review processes, preferred.
  • Strong project management, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, preferred.
