About The Position

The System Engineer – Dust Mitigation supports NASA as an Oceaneering teammate on the JSC Engineering, Technology, and Science (JETS) II contract. The position is part of the Advanced Projects section in the Engineering Department and contributes to human spaceflight and deep space exploration programs, particularly Artemis mission development and planning and NASA’s Human Landing System (HLS). The engineer works with NASA HLS partners to develop plans and technologies for mitigating, controlling, and managing dust contamination during lunar surface exploration. This includes preventing dust accumulation on EVA tools and suits and controlling or removing dust to protect crew cabin volumes. The position also supports ground-based testing with JSC laboratory facilities, evaluates provider progress and hardware/software adequacy across the development and flight-readiness lifecycle, reviews program documentation, participates in program and provider forums and reviews, and reports findings to HLS Program management. The role may involve international travel and may be hired at different levels in the professional career framework depending on business needs. A 9/80 schedule may be available, and straight-time overtime may be possible.
