We are actively hiring a System Development Engineer II on the Redshift Control Plane team. As you design and code solutions to help our team drive efficiencies in software architecture, you’ll create metrics, implement automation and other improvements, and resolve the root cause of software defects. Requirements

  • 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 1+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • 7+ years of administrative experience in networking, storage systems, operating systems and hands-on systems engineering experience
  • Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (networking, storage, operating systems)
  • Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with PowerShell (preferred), Python, Ruby, or Java
  • Experience working in an Agile environment using the Scrum methodology

Responsibilities

  • Identifying and solving challenging systems, process and tooling issues to make things better for our customers
  • Designing and implementing software components, products or services which improve operational efficiency
  • Investigating technical issues thoroughly, performing root cause analysis, identifying changes to procedures and systems and implementing long term fixes to avoid repeating issues.
  • Providing solutions to technically challenging real business problems in a global organization
