The System Designer role, reporting to the Montreal V&I system designer team leader, provides crucial support to the department by assisting sales representatives with customer system design and validation, and supporting project managers in their mandates. This role also involves supporting other members of the system design team.

Requirements

  • Bilingual: French & English
  • Background in Audiovisual, Project Management or a related experience
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar position.
  • Knowledge of advanced practical and theoretical of the followings: Sound, lighting, control, video and videoconference
  • Very good knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Be able to prepare, understand and interpret advanced single-line diagrams, construction and electrical elevation plans
  • Knowledge of the following software: Autocad 2010, MS Project, dimmers functionality, lighting configurator, lighting and audio console on PC
  • Specialized software skills in sound and/or lighting of configurator DSP type, sound analysis, calibration
  • Strong ability in communication, knows how to provide information clearly and logically
  • Ability to work with tight schedules and under pressure
  • Demonstrate thoroughness and pay attention to details

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Sales department’s representatives in the system design of requested solutions from our clients through creation of a BOM or other bid support package
  • Participate in site visits to survey the proposed job and analyze requirements the client asked for and unseen potential impacts or options (risks or opportunities)
  • Perform the validation of equipment choices and systems conception (including any design of custom built solutions if required)
  • Evaluate the labour requirements for a proposed job, including any specialized equipment, tools, perishables, cabling, etc
  • Create technical drawings to explain, elucidate the scope of the potential project (block diagram, single-line, architectural, etc.)
  • Elaborate the Scope Of Work in a document
  • Meet and discuss with the client and the Sales rep. (As required)
  • Support the Project Managers and their team in the execution of their projects
  • Supporting the initial Sales to Operations kickoff handovers
  • Technical explanations or support of a designed system before and/or during implementation to the Operations team or client as required
  • Help ensure the technical compliance of the project deliverables
  • Keep yourself informed of new products and technologies in the audiovisual domain.
