About The Position

NextGen Security LLC is seeking a System Designer with 5 years of experience in the security industry to join their growing team. This role is responsible for designing integrated security solutions, including parts lists, labor estimates, scopes of work, system drawings, and bid pricing. The position also involves providing software support for complex system deployments, potentially requiring travel for initial setup and startup phases. The System Designer will oversee the Operations department's planning and standards for these systems, assist with complex customer site issues, and conduct end-user and train-the-trainer sessions. This is a key role impacting the sales, engineering, and operations processes, ensuring projects are sold correctly, installed on budget, and meet customer expectations while maintaining high satisfaction levels. Some local travel may be required.

Requirements

5 years or more of experience in the security industry
Network and IT knowledge
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and presentation skills
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Experience with Bluebeam, Adobe Pro/Plus, Visio, MS Project and other Microsoft products
Ability to assess sites to develop requirements and define challenges
Develop project design and material list
Assist in the creation of project scope of work
Support multiple project and client deadlines and deliverables
Create design parameters to include wiring diagrams, site equipment layouts, mounting details and computer and network specifications
Assist in presenting design to customers and/or decision makers
Work with design and operations team for implementation of a project
Evaluate new industry products and re-evaluate current supported products
Keep current with training and certifications
Experience in network design and implementation standards
Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally in both written and verbal manner to customers and to those within the company.
Must possess a positive attitude and be willing to interact with customers, co-workers and other personnel at all times.

Attention to detail and accuracy is a must.

Nice To Haves

Experience with AutoCAD and IP surveillance
Access Control Certifications in Genetec, Software House, ProWatch, and/or Lenel OnGuard
Video Management Certifications in OnSSI, Milestone, and/or Genetec

Generating detailed parts lists

Generating system overview drawings
Acquiring bid pricing from various subcontractor trades
Conducting site visits with Sales and sub-contractors
Assisting sales in end-user proposal presentations
Providing software support for large integrated complex system deployments
Traveling to sites for initial load and startup phases
Overseeing the Operations department planning and standards for systems
Assisting with complex issues on customers’ sites
Running end-user training sessions
Conducting train-the-trainer sessions
Assessing sites to develop requirements and define challenges
Developing project design and material lists
Assisting in the creation of project scope of work
Supporting multiple project and client deadlines and deliverables
