About The Position

KLA's Global Products Group (GPG) is seeking a System Design Engineer to join the Surfscan Division. This role will focus on the development of next-generation inspection tools for semiconductor wafer substrates. The Surfscan system design team supports multiple engineering programs and products, with a need for additional personnel due to the ramp-up of next-generation products and future product lines. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of system, mechanical engineering, platform design and development, with good knowledge of optics, imaging, electronics, signal processing techniques, statistical analysis techniques, and simulation. The candidate must be able to multitask, work independently, and be a motivated team member, with strong written and verbal communication skills for interaction with various stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Doctorate (Academic) Degree and 0 years related work experience; OR Master's Level Degree and 3 years related work experience; OR Bachelor's Level Degree and 5 years related work experience.
  • Deep understanding in system, mechanical engineering, platform design and development.
  • Good understanding of optics, imaging, electronics, signal processing techniques, statistical analysis techniques and simulation knowledge.
  • Ability to multitask, work independently, and be a motivated team member.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Experience with AI, deep learning.
  • Project management skills (scoping, budgeting, and scheduling).

Responsibilities

  • Transform market and customer requirements into system configurations.
  • Develop novel inspection solutions to improve sensitivity and throughput.
  • Design experiments to validate ideas.
  • Define system error budget and translate system requirements into sub-module requirements.
  • Work with functional teams to ensure sub-module requirements are met.
  • Collaborate with key functional groups to ensure the success of tool integration and product launch.
  • Own creation and execution of prototype test plans for the entire system and complex subsystems.
  • Engage with customer technical development and drive the team to resolve system issues at customer sites or in manufacturing.
