About The Position

The Boeing Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) portfolio is pursuing several new development, research, and technology prototyping efforts and is seeking an Experienced or Lead System Architect to support these efforts! This position is located at the Boeing Jetplex facility in Huntsville, Alabama. Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) IAMD portfolio supports several air, missile, and ground defense system platforms. This position will help drive research and development activities associated with these types of products and craft the overall team strategy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Radar, Threat Analysis, Digital Signal Processing, Digital Communications, Interceptor Technologies, Drone/UAS Systems, or other technologies associated with Integrated Air and Missile Defense
  • Experience operating in a strategic technical R&D environment
  • This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)
  • Must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. To meet U.S. export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

  • Strong background in system architecture, systems engineering, or system-of-systems analysis
  • Experience supporting technical trade studies, concept development, or future capability planning
  • Ability to understand and communicate complex technical relationships across multiple system elements
  • Strong analytical, communication, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work independently while learning from and collaborating closely with a senior architect
  • Experience in digital signal processing theory, including the application of fundamental digital signal processing techniques
  • System test experience including test design, implementation, and execution for breadboard and brassboard hardware
  • Familiarity with multiple programming languages and development environments (C++, ADA, Python, etc.) in an Agile environment
  • Experience with prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting hardware with standard lab equipment
  • Experience in formal technical writing (i.e. Whitepapers, Tech-Notes, Technical Journals, and Research Reports)
  • Experience in technology readiness level (TRL) maturation of novel technologies and concepts

Responsibilities

  • Support the development of system-level architecture for future IAMD concepts and capabilities
  • Assist in shaping the technical direction and strategic vision for the Futures Team
  • Work alongside the current lead architect to capture design rationale, architectural decisions, and future roadmap elements
  • Conduct and support trade studies, mission analysis, and concept exploration activities
  • Assess system interactions, interface dependencies, and capability gaps across the architecture
  • Translate operational needs and technical insights into coherent architecture recommendations
  • Help evaluate emerging technologies and their impact on future system architecture
  • Produce architecture artifacts, briefings, and decision-support materials for leadership and stakeholders
