This position provides a variety of technical work for the Information Technology (IT) Department, including, but not limited to, deploying, configuring, maintaining, securing, and monitoring all active network equipment/software in order to ensure smooth network operation. The role supports Information Systems functions under the direction of the Information Technology Director. It involves installing and supporting LANs, WANs, network segments, Internet, and intranet systems, as well as identifying and solving problems that may arise with computer networks and systems. The administrator will analyze and troubleshoot problems of computer users with applications, procedures, software, and hardware county-wide. This includes establishing network by evaluating network performance issues, planning and executing the selection, installation, configuration, and testing of equipment, defining network policies and procedures, and establishing connections and firewalls. The position ensures the County’s network is current and operating as intended, secures the network by developing network access, monitoring, control, and evaluation, and maintains documentation. Responsibilities also include recommending upcoming network needs, setting up and maintaining servers (physical and virtual), user accounts, county firewall, antivirus, and other security systems. Additionally, the role assists in maintaining the Juneau County website, building a new website, and maintaining and upgrading the current phone system, while upholding confidentiality.
