About The Position

We are seeking a System Administrator to join our team. Requirements

  • Experience performing systems administration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and operational support in enterprise IT environments.
  • Experience supporting ticket-driven IT operations using a system such as ServiceNow.
  • Experience supporting at least some combination of server, virtualization, messaging, backup, or infrastructure operations.
  • Working knowledge of system health monitoring, user/system support, configuration management, and maintenance procedures.
  • Ability to support recurring service requests, incidents, and change-related work while maintaining accurate status and documentation.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related technical field and 2-4 years of relevant systems administration experience; or Master’s Degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related technical field and 0-2 years of relevant systems administration experience; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 8-10 years of relevant systems administration experience
  • Active or must be able to obtain Public Trust

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting Unix/Linux, VMware, backup/archive platforms, or Microsoft messaging environments.
  • Experience supporting federal enterprise IT environments.
  • Familiarity with patching, automation support, and operational documentation.
  • Experience coordinating with cross-functional technical teams in a multi-platform environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform day-to-day systems administration and operational support for assigned infrastructure platforms and services.
  • Review, update, and fulfill ServiceNow tickets, including service requests, incidents, and change-related work, in accordance with customer requirements and service expectations.
  • Support Unix/Linux Server Support Services, including account administration, configuration changes, provisioning/decommissioning, system health monitoring, and troubleshooting of non-functional Linux-based services.
  • Support VMware Server Support Services, including provisioning and decommissioning virtual machines, applying approved configuration changes, supporting Tier 2/Tier 3 virtualization issues, and coordinating with storage, network, and application teams as needed.
  • Support Backup and Archiving Support Services, including maintenance activities, backup policy administration, patch support, and resolution of assigned requests and incidents related to backup and archiving platforms.
  • Support Messaging Support Services, including mailbox administration, troubleshooting user and service issues, monitoring messaging system health, and responding to incidents and service requests through ServiceNow ticketing system.
  • Assist with implementation of approved patches, upgrades, maintenance events, and security updates during scheduled patch windows.
  • Maintain accurate ticket notes, status updates, and operational records to support weekly updates and overall service accountability.
  • Generate or update technical documentation, operating procedures, and troubleshooting guidance for supported systems and platforms when assigned through ServiceNow.
  • Provide clear written and verbal communication to both technical and management audiences regarding status, issues, and support actions.
  • Participate in transition, knowledge transfer, and steady-state support activities to ensure continuity of service without disruption.
